After a couple days, the truck started and ran as normal, started on the first key turn every time. Fast forward to this week, and the intermittent start issue is back. Sometimes the truck starts on the first key turn, sometimes it starts on the 4th or 5th. Never cranks, just clicks once. Then this morning it just didn't start.In this case then this sort of (maybe) eliminates the crankshaft position sensor but leaves a flaky/intermittent fuel pump as a possible explanation. It's easy to check for fuel issues, however. Simply try the ideal starting procedure (<5 seconds crank), pull a spark plug and check for fuel. If the plug is wet then you have fuel but either no spark or no compression.
