Cool project by JRA. I let these snap by and bought a Rockola. I'm very interested to see how these hold up over the years. I'm trying to visualize where they cut the BULA forging. Are the holes where the weld is or part of the Winchester heel? I have a WRA M1 with some little marks from the forging but I've never seen an original WRA M14 receiver.

LRB and Bula are generally considered the best builders of forged receivers. A good M14 is as reliable as an M1. I would say a Springfield M1A falls in that category. I am with the others here: take advantage of Springfield's warranty and don't change a bunch of parts out. My personal M14 is a JRA, with the receiver made by Bula.

I did not know this until I was talking to some interested passers-by at SHOT and I said they were hammer forged.I made a post on here a while ago about my James River Armory M14 not being able to extract spent brass due to how rough the chamber was. Well after sending it in and them "fixing" it it still can't get through a full mag, and now theres spent brass permanently stuck in the chamber.
