Heat the cylinder for 1 to 1-1/2 hours at 400- 450 degrees. 5. The sleeve should slide in very easily when the cylinder is heated properly. 6. Rap the sleeve down after the sleeve has cooled off. 7. Mill the top deck of the cylinder to add finishing touch. Caution - some cylinders may not be able to have the surface decked.

If you are able to remove the propeller then you are definitely most able to change the bore sleeve. Just pull the prop off, break up the old sleeve with a hammer and chisel, and snap the new one in place. It's a 4 dollar part.

Feb 1, 2015. #1. I was seeing if one of my old aluminum props could be used as a spare on a friends 2012 Mercury 150hp 4-stroke. It has a plastic ring that has 3 tabs and fits into the bearing carrier nut and seems to fill in the gap at the front of the prop. My spare aluminum prop seems to rub a bit too much on it.Also keep in mind that if the prop bore was deburred or chamfered, your measurements may be off by a bit.
