That's the difference between SMIMs. The original is full 2k, Divine and Noble use their own textures, mostly 1k, and Friendly SMIM uses Brumbeck's 1k textures. Any full SMIM will have a performance hit, SMIM essentials is great, I use it. You can let RW2 overwrite SMIM. The general consensus is to use SMIM as a base and then let mods with more specific textures that you want to overwrite SMIM. Considering the water issues in SE, id probably let real waters win. I have previously compared both meshes in NifSkope. There is technically very little difference, polygon-wise.
