The shelf usually lags behind current guidelines by a couple years. Essentially, if there's controversy about a question because of brand new guidelines, then they will appreciate this in the stats and the question will likely be thrown out. This is what we were told anyway, its difficult to say how much of it was actually true.
Maybe it's different for the comats (DO shelves) but it's pretty much whatever you do for IM + public health and USPSTF screening guidelines. Risk assessment, primary and secondary prevention are huge too. But if you can do typical medicine and know the screening guidelines cold + things like CHADS-VASC you'll score fine.
