First and foremost, keep in mind that guns require a high level of aiming and reloading skills to be effectively used, as opposed to melee weapons, which can be used regardless of skill level. There are a total of 14 guns in Project Zomboid, categorized into 3 types: handguns, shotguns, and rifles.

Even the M9 pistol will one hit kill zombies on a crit roll with no negative modifiers. And it's the dinkiest gun in the game. Most guns have a base of 20% crit chance and a +10% crit/level gain. In other words, at 8 skill, you always crit. The sniper rifles always crit at 5, and almost always crit at 4. Cool work! Something to note that I didn’t see: the type of weapon you use affects the condition of zombie’s clothing when you kill them. A bladed weapon will tear clothes up, but blunt weapons don’t do that. Pretty useful to know when you see rare clothes, like the bulletproof vest. 3.Even if you think you still have enough food to survive for a while get those cabbages ready. 36. Utilize Fire.
