Chevy malibu cranks but wont start.
I have had this 2006 Malibu for years and years and years and I have never had any problems with the car. Probably the best running car I've ever had. However, recently, about a month, maybe a month and a half ago, my car all of a sudden just wouldn't turn over. I kept trying it over and over and it started eventually.
Seems like an electrical issue cause other warning lights come on and off, blinker malfunction. The car wouldn't start, you had to have a special way to start it. 9 times out of 10 you would have to wait the 10 min. or so to let the anti theft code reactivate. Finally paid over $300 to replace the ignition switch.It is a 2008 Chevy Cobalt 2.2L with 199K. I've owned it since about 70K and it has always had its routine maintenance. The night before the issue, I filled up the gas, drove it to work the next day, no issues. When leaving work it cranked but will not start. While driving my '95 Chevy Blazer (4.3L V6) on the highway, I pulled off to use a rest stop. The engine was (and has) been running/starting well, and upon returning to leave, the engine would not start. The engine was turning over, but would not ignite. If you have spark and injector pulse on 2 or more cylinders it's not the ECM. 92-93 ECMs canbe hard to find ussd or remanufactured, but they do show up in parts wanted - for sale sub forum. Most of the time they have to be sent out for repair. So when i went to turn on the truck, there was a crank but no start. Radio work, windows were working. I did notice the radio screen wasn't showing the button to switch radio station.

Use an extra spark plug. A spark plug tester. Or even a screwdriver, in the end of the coil. Ground it on a piece of metal on the engine. Finally, have someone crank the engine, and watch for a spark. No spark, indicates an ignition problem.
Find "E", then count down to 6 and it should be a gray wire. THAT WIRE needs to be HOT when the FP is supposed to be running. If it's not, check the 15A fuse and/or the relay. If the coil is bad the gas could never be ignited and the engine won't start. If your hhr doesn't get enough fuel or any fuel at all, you might have a bad fuel filter, bad fuel pump or bad fuel injection. The hhr can crank but not start without the correct amount of fuel entering the combustion chamber.work backward from the plugs . No spark next go back to the distributor cap if there's no power there go back to the coil. is there power going in if so go back to the distributor and check the modules in the base of the distributor. check the wires going into the modules.
