I find star metal serves its purpose then becomes kinda uselss. I rarely use it for armors mostly hardened steel. The only armor I use star metal for is the silent Legion redeemed chest plate. As for DLCs the only one worth getting in my opinion is isles of siptah. It's the only dlc that adds more to the game then just cosmetics.

I would say, if they don't break from 1 max 2 explosive arrows / demon fire orbs, then they are bugged and you should not waste more time and resources trying. I personally use explosive arrows and aim at the base.That's using 3 more orbs though and tar orbs should be considered more valueable then fire orbs, since you can farm volatile glands pretty easily in the jungle while tar is needed for steel production.
