Feb 17, 2015 · Ran the verifier again, same message. Unfortunately it doesn't tell you which file it is that's not verifying. Next thing I tried was uninstalling and redownloading. Same crashes again, same "1 File failed to validate and will be reacquired" message followed by no action by Steam to download any further files.

Btw. the "file failed to validate" has nothing to do with Steam cloud or anything, its a remnant of the DRM used. Every time you validate it the DRM file gets redownloaded and as its proceduraly generated it not matches the checklist. Nofear you can play without problems ;-) #3. Verifying the game will give the message "three files failed to validate and will be reacquired", and checking back again before launching the game again shows that they are still there. However, if I open the game and check again, the message shows up again. I'd assume it's the same three files, though I'm not sure how I'd confirm this.

If you are having the same problem on PC, on steam, go to properties, installed files and click on verify integrity, then wait for the computer to check for broken files and restore integrity.
