So I called Malin Customer Service and talked to a person by the name of Dave. He told that Marlin is no longer producing a bolt action "22 magnum" in "stainless steel" namely the xt-22mtsl. He did say they produce a 22 l.r. in stainless but no longer for the 22mag in stainless. The last I looked I see the web site still shows the Xt-22mtsl but ...How I clean my Marlin 795. At the forward tip of the forearm both stocks are about 1.4", but just forward of the magazine/trigger guard, the 995 is about 1.7", where the 795 is about 1.5".
