The frame and slide finish is superior, the slide to rail fitment is slightly better (slide racks more smoothly on the Staccato) and the Staccato trigger is slightly crisper and lighter. I’ve seen a lot of upgraded and customized Springfield DS Prodigy’s out there that look great. I know of the QC issues with the stock Prodigy’s which seem to be fixed by upgrading some of the internals. It seems like you can actually buy a Prodigy, upgrade and customize it for the price of a Staccato P, or maybe even less.

Like I said, I’ve never had a 1911 before so I don’t have anything to compare it to other than my striker fired guns. I’ve been looking at Staccatos for the last few weeks and was tempted until I learned about the prodigy a week ago. The Staccato is probably the better but I don’t know if it’s going to be $1200 better.

He had looked at the gun and seemed interested but was on the fence. I walked over and told the sales kid I'd take it. Bone stock Staccato P vs. bone stock Prodigy 4.25" Someone who shoots less than 500 rds per yr would be hard pressed to find much if any differences between the two. I stick to 1911s. And when I want a double stack, it's a Sig classic P-series. Even the P226 feels downright svelte compared to the Prodigy.
