Tivo remote not working with new batteries.
Just recently, my Tivo 4K remote will no longer control my TCL Roku TV volume / power controls. I have reset both the Tivo and remove, moved the Tivo to another HDMI port, changed the batteries and it will still not control the volume or power. When I try to re-pair it does work but about 30 seconds later it no longer controls it anymore.
Remove the batteries from your remote. Plug in your Fire TV and wait 60 seconds. Put the batteries back in your remote. But nothing. Even tried using the Fire Stick app to circumvent re-pairing the controller but that didn't work either. The TiVo remote tends to freak out when you move the TiVo stream to another tv. I think the proper way to do the transition is to reset and unpair from the old tv first then set it up again on the new tv. The Tivo remote controls all the other components (TV and stereo) fine, so I know it is sending out a signal. And the remote does produce a red light at the tip when I push a button. So batteries finally gave out last night. We had been at 10% for quite some time per the TiVo diagnostic and it was still working for both the TiVo (RF) and Onkyo AVR (IR) but note that we are typically within 10 foot of the AVR. These were rechargeable in a Slide Pro Remote so not bad taking almost 2 months to drop from 30% to not working.
