What really stinks about the spare tire location is that Ford removed the spare tire lock as a standard option on the 2023 Lariats and Platinums. Great to sell a $100K vehicle with an expensive tire and wheel rim for the easy taking unless you buy a now-optional lock!
Not sure if I can squeeze that underneath with my dual exhaust. Find a comparable size 18" tire and mount it on you spare rim then put it back under your truck. I think a 34" should fit. with the cable reeled out now is a good time to re-lube the cable and any other areas. reinstall the plastic snorkel/funnel....place the spare tire under the truck and lace the center bracket & cable into the spare and reinstall the spare tire to its storage area. OK, thanks. As for the key not working, I'd suggest taking a can of WD-40 with the plastic tube on the nozzle, insert it in the lock, and spray. Then determine if the a) lock is frozen or b) the original owner rekeyed the ignition. You can also spray the lock from the back, and see if there is a lot of rust on it.If it's an aftermarket wheel lock, which it sounds like it is. You have 3 options. One, you can go to a Pep Boys, they sell a special kit to remove locks where the key is lost. It's around $30, and kind of a waste unless you're using it for your job. Two, you can go to a specialty wheel/tire shop.

Totally stuck now, in a loose spare tire position. I took it home and figured out the handle/cradle mechanism. Used a sawsall to cut off the threaded rod. I got the tire out. then used a coupling nut and bolt to put it all back together. I traded in the split rim and flat spare tire for a good used one.Flat tire.
