Redfield made one specifically for the 37 Ithica #551001, which was designed to deal with the recoil. Sadly they are no longer marketed, and used ones are far and few between. I believe Ithica used this mount as a factory option at one time on the Deerslayer. I had some heavy duty 11mm airgun scope rings that fit. It worked out pretty good.Old-style barrel threads have pitch i.e. "angle" in them, new style barrels do not. There is no way to modify new threads properly to fit an old gun. As 1977 catcher has said - you must find an old barrel - there are plenty out there, and then send the gun to Diamond Gunsmiths to have it fitted.Don't rule out the 12 ga. Ithaca 37 for quail either. Because of the way the barrel mates with the end of the mag tube, longer magazines aren't really practical so the SOS was a pistol grip version with the barrel cut off even with the end of the mag tube.
