I haven't tried to play with the carb because it's an hour away at my shop. When I got it I did pull the carb and clean it, but that's it.The most common problem is that the shift rod is out of adjustment. It's probably moving too far towards the low gear and when it high it's not locked in all of the way. I am posting the adjustment diagram below. If adjusting it doesn't help you out then you know that chances are there are worn parts in the engine. (Not very common.)The idle screw is on the right side. It is a good size piece that can be easily adjusted by hand. The air/fuel screw is on the front part of the bottom of the carb near the intake boot.
