Apr 2, 2011 · NovaKaw650. The Prairie 400 is COMPLETELY different from the 360 (the 400 is a better machine) so any wrenching experience won't be applicable. The linkage likely needs to be lubricated, although they are a little stiff at the best of times. I can't remember when you need to push the button; I think it's for shifting to reverse and low range.
Is your Kawasaki Prairie 400 leaking fuel? Maybe you've even replaced the needle and seat (needle valve) You might be running into this issue here. Turn off the fuel at the tank and remove the screw from the center of the petcock handle. Remove all of the phillips screws and the two 6mm (10mm head) bolts at the back of the tank holding the tank cover on. Take the gas cap up and remove the tank cover.

The Atv turns on perfectly, but when put on drive and hitting the throttle hard to take off, the quad makes an loud sound (like it's hitting metal) and does not advance. 2002 Prairie 300 4x4 - the starter button stopped working. I have systematically looked at the issue from the button itself down to the solenoid on to the starter and the battery. For the life of me I have no idea what is the problem. The starter button shows it has voltage reaching it. The battery is good (it works fine on my Praire 400).
