A one-level preview demo release on January 20, 2003[1] was recognized as one of the Top 100 WADs of All Time on Doomworld. Its expanded Blue hub released on July 27, 2004[2] was an inaugural winner of the Cacowards first awarded in December 2004.

Excellent immitation of the Doom I style on most maps, but much better design and architecture.
Others that I've really enjoyed, but I'd avoid in your case, are Speed of Doom, the later levels of Scythe and Scythe II, Struggle: Antaresian Legacy, or even Alien Vendetta until you're more comfortable with harder WADs, unless you'd be willing to step down to HMP to hone your skills (which there's no shame in). Comatose (looks impressive, runs like crap on most sourceports though) Mutinity (only some levels are urban but those are my favorites from the wad) Blood Steel (really great design, gets very slaughtery in later levels) and as u/MagnesiumH said, doom 2 reloaded also has some urban themed maps but vanilla textures and more simple design.
