When running at idle the pressure jumps to 80 psi, oscillating between 75 and 85. Disconnecting the vacuum line to the regulator has no effect on the pressure.

The FSM doesn't provide any documentation on fuel line routing, connections, etc, and I cannot find a fuel line schematic anywhere. The old Jeep's with carbs used a mechanical pump that wouldn't fit on a SBC. Sense it's a 95, if the stock pump in the tank is still functional then you just need a pressure reducer specific for carbs.

There are 2 connections on the fuel tank sender unit. I'm guessing the larger line goes to the fuel pump and the small line is the return line. Where does the return line originate from in the engine compartment. I know there are 2 hard line along frame but not sure where to hook up the return in engine area. Another lesser known factor one reaps when the return line recirculates unused fuel back to the tank is that the fuel doesn't get heat soaked setting in the line to get used. The engine "grabs what it needs" and sends the unused back to the cool gas tank for recirculation...less chance for engine vapor lock.

I own a 93 YJ and a 99TJ, YJ's have a regulator on at the fuel rail with the return going back to the tank and TJ's have a single feed line with all regulation in the tank as part of the sending unit.
