I had my sweep 2 days ago, and just lost my mucus plug. I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow, and am 3cm dilated, 50% effaced. I had 3 sweeps with my daughter and they did nothing (I was also 3cm dilated from 37-40 weeks with her, so I know it doesn't mean much).
