410 resizing on MEC 600 Jr. I seem to have an excessive amount of brass shavings from my AA hulls when I run them through the resizing ring on the MEC 600. The entire circumference seems to be affected by the resizing process. I am currently using up the last of my old CF AA hulls, but the newer HS hulls have the same issues.Those are both Pre '82 Models. The front of the Base Assembly is open. With '82 on models the base is closed in the front. Bars and Bushings you can get directly from MEC, many local gunshops, or any of the online dealers like Gamaliel Shooting Supply and Midway USA. While the Sizemaster is the more desirable machine, the 600 Jr. will do the job quite well, and for 50 Bucks, I wouldn't hesitate to jump on it. It may require a bit more muscle to operate when resizing steel case heads, but it's not that difficult.

I have thousands of once-fired old-style AA .410 hulls and some of them refuse to accept even a Winchester primer easily. The progressive MEC 650 is an entirely different press than the single-stage 600 Jr. and I see no way one could successfully do any shimming in the primer cup of a 600 Jr.

I learned on a single-stage MEC (far older than a 600Jr), I load progressive or single stage depending on how much volume I need. I typically load 75-100/hr on a single-stage Mec (100 is humping hard).At station 4 the crimp starter is updated and the new one works pretty well, but then so did the old one. The final crimp station is also updated but again, not significantly better than the old version. About the only thing on the new versin 600 Jr. that is nice is the pre crimper, as it changes out from 6 to 8 in only a couple seconds.Some of the older 600's didn't have the Pro Check, but that's easily added and I think it helps speed things up to some extent. Basically, a 600 is a 600, as far as what it does and how it operates. The 700 Versamec is also basically just a 600 in that it would also load 3 inch shells. I am using #6 shot, 1 1/8 oz. The charge bar does not slide easily to the right to drop the shot. It has to be forced. Also the shot does not alway drop completly into the hull. When I move the hull the rest of the shot falls.
