I have 2008 Prius with 126k miles on it. I was driving at highway and three lights ( red triangle, yellow circle with ! and the red car with the ! on the display) came on. I didn't stop right away. I tried it on my other (working) Prius and if you start it with no foot on the brake pedal the dash looks the same, the LED on the start button stays orange and the OBD also reports no codes. The only difference is that it doesn't have the red triangle of death on.

The codes on the MFD are for audio and Navigation (if your car has GPS). You need a generic OBD2 reader to read some codes. Best to use miniVCI w/ hacked Techstream. It will read ALL Toyota & Prius codes; software made for specifically for the Toyota family (Toyota,Lexus, Scion, Daihatsu(JDM)).
