The "slanted" bumper over-riders were the final step in VW's "tranistion". The pre-'67 USA versions suffered engine lid-to-bumper clearance problems, if the rear bumper took a light hit, or if the bumper had been replaced because of a more severe hit, and the bumper mounts weren't pulled back out.

You'll look on the bottom of your seat frames, and see a small hole, and then on the front portion of steel that runs across the front of your seat tracks on the pan.. there's a hole in that as well. Insert one end of the spring in each hole.. the springs assist your seat to move them forward on the tracks.. hope this helps. …

Fuel gauges started on July 31, 1961 at vin number 4010995, which is the beginning of the 62 model year.
A gallon of base will cover the inside and outside of a bug just fine. I would recomend using the correct color or shade of grey the paint mfg. suggests under the base for better coverage. You dont need 3 coats of clear on the inside and bottom sides of your panels if your using a high solid clear. 3 on the outside is great.

I soaked for a week in cleaner and removed the grease and rust. I replaced both seals and threaded the cover and installed cap screws in lieu of plastic caps. I have read different articles that approach the lubrication of the steering boxes.

I suppose if you painted the frames black it would match the non deluxe windshield and backlight rubber only standard / or cal. bug style rubber. To mix the two doesn't look good at all.
