Posted April 25, 2013. it depends on if you want to deal high damage in a fast amount of time then you'd need: Fire Rate + Armour Piercing + Elemental damage (namely Freeze to slow them down) + Normal damage with Reload speed. also Crit Chance and Crit Damage is always good for fast amount of damage.

Gorgon does better damage and more death per magazine. Boltor is more economical and ignores armor. If you pick gorgon you will be running out of ammo from time to time. If you pick Boltor you won't but you also won't be mowing down an insane horde without reloading (though damn close).

Posted May 8, 2013. I've tried both, the gorgon is a much better boss/heavy killer imo, but is really bad at long range, and only ok at mid range. Braton is "better" at long and mid range because of the lesser recoil, but is worse as a boss/heavy killer. VS heavies overall I prefer the braton because it's easier to pour the fire into the crit ...No. Gorgon is terrible. It's clumsy, inaccurate, and the reloading is obscene. Gorgon Wraith is a good weapon, but it's also got higher damage, faster spin up, better accuracy, great status chance, and faster reload.... And don't forget to add, that it's no longer obtainable as of now..I'd say the biggest issue with the Gorgon, is that it changes weapon type drastically, from a Single Target Rifle, to an AoE Launcher. That's a problem when it comes to picking an Arcane. Deadhead is more beneficial for single target, yet nearly impossible to use when in AoE mode. After a couple days of googling this question, I've come up with a LOT of conflicting information and I'm not entirely sure what's current any more, or indeed what's smart. Near as I can tell, currently the Gorgon's Blueprint can drop from three enemies in the game - Heavy Gunners, Arid Heavy Gunners and Grineer Wardens, and is no longer available either in the Market or as a login reward.
Gorgon can be fun to use, however it has many downsides. It has bad accuracy (with massive spread), damage is not too good as well, and it chews through ammo very quickly. Then there's also the wind up time before it can reach its max firerate. The Gorgon is fantastic since damage 2.0. Originally, the Supra and Soma were simply better in every possible way, however, they now all have different damage types. Gorgon is impact, Supra is pierce, and Soma is slash. Gorgon is the ideal choice out of the three for fighting corpus.
